Veterans for Peace Demonstrate at White House

Veterans for Peace (VFP) and hundreds of supporters rallied on December 16 at the White House, calling for President Obama to “Stop these wars!”  Veterans for Peace has reported that 131 demonstrators were arrested.  VFP noted that the arrested included five VFP board members, Daniel Ellsberg (Pentagon Papers), Chris Hedges (journalist), Ray McGovern (retired CIA officer), and Coleen Rowley (former FBI agent).  Jodie Evans and Medea Benjamin, of Code Pink, were also among the dozens of other peace activists who were arrested.

CNN reported, “After a noisy but peaceful demonstration involving a few hundred people, police ordered the group to disperse. Those who refused were then placed in plastic handcuffs, led to a processing tent during a snow shower, photographed and placed on a bus for transport.”
